ListenApp is a UK Community Interest Company developing discreet safety technology for people affected by domestic abuse. Our team brings experience across victim support, abuse prevention, trauma-informed practice, technology and philanthropy in the UK and internationally.
Our experience
Three disciplines, one mission
Our team combines trauma-informed victim support and abuse-prevention experience with technology and philanthropy. ListenApp was created from an understanding of the barriers people can face when trying to seek help safely, then developed with input from survivors and organisations working closest to people affected by domestic abuse. This combination of lived understanding, frontline insight and technical expertise continues to shape how ListenApp develops.

Qualified across disciplines
Our team brings together clinical, technological, and philanthropic expertise, united by a shared commitment to ending abuse.
Team members are qualified in Abuse Awareness and Prevention, Counselling, Hypnotherapy, and Trauma Recovery. Our team includes membership with the British Psychological Society, Safeguarding, Gestalt Working with Trauma, Hypnotherapy for Trauma and PTSD, MindBody Brain and Trauma, and Trauma Recovery CPD qualifications.
We have also spent years supporting victims directly, working in partnership with domestic abuse charities, and participating in sector-wide policy dialogue including SafeLives' Monthly Sector Call, Ending Domestic Violence: Long-Term Strategy forums, and Public Policy Exchange events.
Through both professional and personal experience of abuse, the need for better support is not abstract to us. It is what drives everything we build.
To bring ListenApp to life, we work with trusted technology and philanthropic partners including Codes Orbit, Direction Forward, Metric, and Canvas Philanthropy, combining deep sector knowledge with the technical expertise to deliver it.

Privacy by design
We minimise the information ListenApp collects. Audio recordings are stored on the user's device rather than on ListenApp's servers, and privacy is considered throughout product development.
Built with charities
We develop ListenApp with input from survivors, domestic abuse organisations and professionals working closest to the people it is intended to support.
End the cycle
ListenApp gives users additional options to alert others of their danger and record evidence safely. Users choose their own triggers, trusted contacts, messages and recording settings.
Evidence led
We use feedback, usage insight and emerging evidence to continually improve how ListenApp works and how it is introduced safely.
